At Hostar International, Inc., we excel at adding value to hotels and resorts; we’ve had three decades of success around the globe with the ProHost® System.
Founded in 1989 as part of the Propst Company, Hostar provides hoteliers with proven systems and measurements to improve guest service, increase productivity and reduce cost in your housekeeping departments. We contribute consultative practices as well as the hard tools your team – managers, supervisors, room attendants, house attendants and linen runners – needs to succeed.
Our clients include some of the finest hotels, casinos, and resorts in the world, ranging from 150-room luxury boutiques to 3,000 room mega-properties. We have proven systems and measurements to improve guest service, increase productivity and reduce cost in your housekeeping and food and beverage departments. We provide consultative practices as well as the hard tools your team – managers, supervisors, room attendants, housepersons and linen runners – needs to succeed.
ProHost® improves service, reduces operational costs, and increases productivity. The system combines intelligent equipment and a repeatable process which streamlines the distribution of daily linens, amenities and supplies from a central point to the guest room in the required quantities. This allows everyone to concentrate on the task at hand - room attendants are organized and working through rooms, while supervisors, managers and housepersons can continue with their duties as well.
The ProHost® System ensures every cart is pre-loaded for housekeeping so there’s no need to run back and forth, saving 40-65 minutes per day per attendant, and every item is tracked to reduce cost. The housekeeping budget can be reduced by an average of 7 percent.
Results vary, but ROI typically occurs between 18-24 months through savings in linen, terry and room supplies and increasing room attendant completions while reducing the inter-dependence of room attendant with managers, supervisors, house attendants and linen runners. With a 15-20 year product life, significant dollars can be generated for your bottom line.
Robert Propst, famous inventor and designer as well as former president of Herman Miller Research Corporation, formed the Propst Company in Denver, Colorado in 1953. Of his 120 designs and inventions, the ProHost® System stands alone.
First conceived in 1980, Propst was approached by a hotel management team to study hotel and resort housekeeping challenges and design a new system. Propst wasn't interested in creating individual things that have no impact on complex situations. Instead, he researched big issues and focused on developing new, large-scale systems that improve and simplify lives.
“The operators of a hotel face three daunting challenges: 1. to be up and running 365 days of the year on a twenty-four hour basis; 2. to welcome, shelter, protect, nurture and please a diverse population of quests; and, 3. in spite of the rigor of the other two, to keep a business and turn a profit.” – Robert Propst
After designing and implementing Hostar and the ProHost® System, Propst passed away in 2000.
